I used to make guacamole with about a dozen different ingredients. I’d keep adding things and tinkering with it until it was really good. But when my husband and I started making it together, I learned that he liked to keep it simple. And over the last several years, I’ve come to love it this way too. For this simple guacamole, it’s just about the basics.
I use just four ingredients, including salt, to make this simple guacamole. And it takes all of about five minutes. It’s the perfect dip to throw together as an appetizer or to go with Mexican food.

A quick and easy recipe for guacamole that is great with tortilla chips or for topping Mexican food.
- 6 avocados medium sized
- ½ cup onion finely diced
- 3 T. lime juice
- 1 tsp. Salt
Combine all ingredients and mash with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust lime and salt, if desired.
Serve with tortilla chips.
Diced tomatoes and cilantro would be great additions!
